Historical Note
Berklee College of Music was founded by Lawrence Berk in 1945 as the Schillinger House school of music, as the curriculum centered on the Schillinger Method of Music Composition. The name was changed in 1954 to the Berklee School of Music, and again in 1970 to Berklee College of Music.

Abstract
Collection of photographs compiled by Alma Berk during her tenure as Berkleeās first publicity officer. Images document campus events, commencement, faculty, staff, students, alumni, visiting artists, and other snapshots of the College from its founding through the mid 1980s, and are the only known comprehensive photographic collection of Berklee during this time.
