Biographical Note

American lyricist Don George (1909-1987) wrote many popular music standards, including “I’m Beginning to See the Light” (1944) with his friend and collaborator Duke Ellington. Based on his personal friendship with Ellington, George authored the biography Sweet Man: The Real Duke Ellington (1981). George also wrote songs and directed music for film.
