This collection contains print and born-digital issues of Berklee Today, 1989-present.

Founded in 1989, Berklee Today is the alumni-oriented magazine of Berklee, "dedicated to informing, enriching, and serving the extended Berklee community." The magazine shares information "of benefit to alumni about college matters, music industry issues and events, alumni activities and accomplishments, and musical topics of interest."

Administrative History

Berklee Today (1989- present) The magazine is currently published semi-annually, though issues released per year have varied since its launch in 1989 (three issues per year through 2009, four issues per year 2009-2011, three issues per year 2012-2018, two issues per year through 2024). Previously a publication of the Office of Institutional Advancement, Berklee Today Berklee Today was produced by the Office of External Affairs from 2019 to 2023, and since 2023 is a publication of the Communications and Marketing division. Originally a College publication, since the merger with the Boston Conservatory in 2016, the magazine reports on cross-institutional events, personnel, and alumni.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

This collection was seeded from several collecting efforts, including the Stan Getz periodicals collection, Tom Riley (VP External Affairs), and Kim Ashton (Editor, Berklee Today); since 2019, the Archives receives print and born-digital copies directly from the magazine’s creating office.

Berklee Today is an ongoing publication, accruals are expected.

Processing Information

Berklee Archives received born-digital issues for 2012-2019 from Kim Ashton, Berklee Today editor, in 2019; the Stan Getz Library’s physical copies of 1989-2011 are currently maintained by the Getz Library but were temporarily transferred by Archives staff to digitize for the online-accessible digital collection; additional selected physical copies (1999-2009) provided by VP of External Affairs Tom Riley in 2022 have been retained by the Archives.
